The Gregory Brothers, creators of AutoTune the News gave a brief presentation to an audience at Google Zeitgeist. The centerpiece is their discussion of "Bed Intruder Song", which has gone viral. They've counted over a thousand covers, remixes and other derived works and their original version, sold on iTunes, made it to the Billboard Top 100. This despite the fact that the song was available free to anyone who cared to make just a slight effort. You have to ask yourself: What is the role of copyright in all of this?
